Best Crystals for Anxiety

Anxiety is becoming increasingly more common as time goes on, and the need for ways to cope grows alongside it. There are numerous forms of anxiety, as well as triggers. Sometimes, the best and only thing to do is to ground yourself in the moment. When you’re in tune with your spirituality, you have an abundant amount of pocket-sized, powerful tools to use to help ease and prevent these anxieties from taking over. Crystals can be a valuable grounding tool when facing anxiety.

As someone who struggles with anxiety, I like to keep a few crystals with me at all times. I call these my “balance stones”. You can read more about where I got them, and how I use them in Anxiety Stones and Their Importance

For now, let’s go over some stones that are specifically useful for anxious times. Here are the nine best crystals for helping diminish anxiety, preventing it, and grounding you when you’re experiencing particularly anxious moments.

1. Clear Quartz

There are many variations of quartz, and all of them have unique properties. Clear quartz is the colorless and purest form of quartz. Many call it the “master healer”. Its power lies mostly in overall healing, but it’s also used to deflect negative energy. The presence of clear quartz is known to bring a sense of calm and clarity.

This crystal is also known to help concentration, which is super important when you can’t seem to narrow your focus. Clear quartz serves as a symbol for the crown chakra, which is the chakra most related to your mind. Any type of mental struggle can use the support of clear quartz, especially anxiety.

2. Black Onyx

Black onyx is an opaque black stone that amplifies intentions. It’s super useful when you’re manifesting, which is helpful when it comes to most spiritual practices and grounding techniques.

 When you’re trying to ground yourself, you’re manifesting mental peace and stability which is why it’s so great to have onyx on hand. In addition to clear quartz, it’s another way to assist your mind with clear thoughts as well as reflecting negative energy away. This crystal is good for anxiety because as well as energy, it can help deflect negative thoughts.

3. Rose Quartz

Self-love is of utmost importance when working towards any type of healing, including mental healing. Rose quartz is “the crystal of love and heart“, and when used in relevance to you, promotes self-love

Followed by that, rose quartz is wonderful when seeking inner peace and a sense of reassurance. It’s also just super pretty to look at, which can be grounding just in nature!

4. Garnet

Garnet’s primary use is balancing and purifying energies. It is also a crystal that enhances survival instinct, promoting courage in times of need. Anxieties triggered by overwhelming times and negative thought spirals are best defended by using garnet.

Garnet is a beautiful stone to have around to add purification to the energies you give off as well as the energies that surround you. It is one of the best-suited crystals for anxiety. When situations get tough or energies are out of hand, garnet can also provide clarity to your fight-or-flight instincts.

5. Blue Lace Agate

Blue Lace Agate is a crystal known to bring a presence of peace. The calm blue tones of the stone can promote ease and stability. It’s also known to aid in healthy relationships and personal growth as it brings more intuition towards forgiveness and empathy in the person carrying the stone.

6. Citrine

Citrine is an amber-shaded stone that negates negative energies. Alongside that, it’s known to increase intuition, boost self-esteem, and help the beholder hone their confidence. The stone itself radiates positive energy and can boost auras.

Confidence can play a big role in diminishing anxiety. If you’re calm and confident in yourself, a lot of situations won’t seem as big and scary as they once did. If you struggle with confidence, consider citrine your new bestie.

7. Purple Amethyst

Amethyst tends to be a fairly popular stone and is my personal favorite crystal for anxiety. Alongside its beauty, it decreases stress, irritability, and alleviates sadness, which are all common side effects of anxiety. As many of the other stones mentioned, it also helps dissolve negative energies that may be affecting you and increasing anxiety.

Essentially, amethyst shoos off all the negative emotions you don’t need bothering you when you’re in an already stressful situation.

8. Sodalite

Sodalite is another blue stone that helps with mental health. It provides thought clarity and promotes rationality

Some anxieties are triggered by fears or worries that may be irrational. This isn’t to say that your anxieties are invalid, however, sometimes our minds can make things seem much larger than they are

When you have sodalite on your side, you’ll find yourself thinking more rationally and emotionally stable which is exactly what you need when facing anxiety. 

9. Selenite

Selenite is almost a must-have for owners of any crystals. It helps cleanse your crystals as well as release negative energies from them. You can get selenite in towers, in its purer “stick” form, or as a selenite plate which is my favorite.

This process is called “cleansing”. In addition to being a cleanser for crystals, selenite aids in clearing confusion, enhancing the depth of thoughts, and providing ultimate protection. It’s an amazing crystal to have for anxiety, but also an important one to have no matter your practice.

So now what?

At this point, the question comes down to “how?”. Once you have your choice of crystals, the next step is putting them to good use!

The first thing that you want to do when you get your crystals is give them a good cleanse. This purifies their energies and makes sure they’re ready for use. Crystal cleansing is a personal process, and a schedule for cleansing crystals based on intent. However, the most recommended time to do so is during full moons and when you feel as though you’ve your crystals need re-energized.

How you use your crystals is up to you. Keeping them close, in your purse, or in a pocket is the best if you’d like to be able to retrieve them as a grounding tool when you’re anxious. But even just having them nearby does wonders.

I like to keep some hung in a pouch on the review mirror of my car. I also keep my anxiety stones in my purse so I always have access to them. When I’m anxious, I’ll take them out and hold them in my palm. Rolling them around in my hand while taking deep breaths helps me ground myself even in my most anxious moments.

There are many other spiritual practices that involve crystals as well. Some of these include meditation, manifestation, crystal grids, visualization, and even reading tarot!
